About the Authors

Tom Cain and Matt McLaren both work as school leaders in government secondary schools in the outer suburbs of Melbourne, Australia.

Both authors have young and lovely families and try to squeeze some deep thinking about teaching, school leadership and school improvement into their lives, usually while everyone else is asleep.

Here is a picture of us in which Matt is holding an award, but in which he also neglected to polish his shoes, and which causes Tom to wonder whether his hair is getting more blond, or more grey – probably more blond, right?
